One of the most frequently asked questions during the spring and summer of 2023 was whether I had a ready-made list of guest book questions. Until now, I didn’t. This week marked the end of a long wedding marathon, and with a little more time to pause and breathe, I finally had the chance to focus on other things as well.

I have now written down the questions that have accumulated over the past three years of my work. There are certainly more to come - and if new ideas arise, I will happily add them to the selection.

All guest book designs are created personally, based on whether the book will include photos or not. Layouts are adjusted according to photo placement and size. Both Estonian and English-language guest books are available.

Wedding candle size 10 × 30 cm (burning time approx. 180 hours):

Recommended initial burning time: 6 hours.

Recommended burning time for each subsequent use: 4–6 hours.

Wedding candles (parent candles) sizes 7 × 12 cm (60 hours) or 7 × 17 cm (85 hours):

Recommended initial burning time: 2–3 hours

Recommended burning time for each subsequent use: 2–3 hours.

Before each use, trim the wick to approximately 0.5–0.7 cm in length.

Each time the candle is burned, make sure that the wax melts evenly from edge to edge to prevent tunnelling.

Do not place the candle in direct, intense sunlight. The candle surface may begin to melt, which can affect both the burning quality and the design or text on the candle, potentially causing it to loosen or fade. If the candle has not been stored or used according to the care instructions, repairs can later be made for an additional fee.

Candle materials:

The candle is made from a special paraffin designed specifically for candle production. Inside the candle is a wick whose thickness depends on the diameter of the candle. The wick has been carefully selected to ensure that, with proper care, the candle burns beautifully and for a long time.

Trimming the candle edges:

Due to repeated lighting and extinguishing, it often happens that the paraffin burns down in the centre of the candle but not along the edges. This causes a hollow to form in the middle of the candle. We recommend always burning the candle long enough for the wax to melt all the way to the edges.

Depending on the location of the candle and the room temperature, this may take between 30 minutes and 2 hours for smaller diameter candles, and up to 6–7 hours for larger diameter candles. If the candle is extinguished too early, the wax will not have time to melt evenly to the edges. In this case, we recommend trimming the edges of the candle immediately after extinguishing, while the wax is still warm.

Candle sooting:

When burning paraffin candles, a small amount of soot is always produced, although it is usually not visible. Due to chemical and physical reasons, it is impossible to burn a candle without producing any soot. Every candle manufacturer aims to create candles that burn as cleanly as possible and to minimise sooting.

If the candle produces visible smoke, the most common reasons are:

The wick is too long: If the flame is not visually rounded at the top and appears to “dance,” the wick absorbs too much wax, there is not enough oxygen, and the candle begins to soot. The wider the candle, the thicker the wick, and the greater the risk of sooting if the wick is not trimmed. If you notice the flame growing larger, the wick should be trimmed.

For safety, extinguish the flame and trim the wick to approximately 0.5 cm in length. Remove any trimmed wick pieces and debris, such as matches or insects, from the melted wax.

The flame receives too little oxygen:

If the candle edges are too high, the flame may not receive enough oxygen and the candle may soot. For safety, extinguish the candle and trim the edges lower. Lack of oxygen may also occur if multiple candles are placed too close together or if the room is insufficiently ventilated.

If the candle is not originally cast in glass, burning it inside a glass container may also restrict oxygen flow and cause sooting. When burning a candle in glass, always monitor the wick length carefully.

The candle is burning in a draught:

If possible, change the location of the candle.

Extinguishing the candle:

Blowing out a candle can cause smoke and sooting. We recommend using a candle snuffer or briefly dipping the wick into the melted wax and then straightening it back upright. This will also make it easier to light the candle next time.

Fire safety:

Candlelight is a live flame and requires constant supervision. Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Keep candles out of reach of pets and small children.

Always place the candle on a fire-resistant surface.

Ensure that the candle cannot tip over.

Do not burn candles in draughts or near curtains or other flammable materials.

Burning a candle in an overly warm environment, such as near a fireplace or radiator, may cause the candle to melt and create a fire hazard.

A well-cared-for candle will remain beautiful for a long time and burn with a steady, elegant flame.

Need väikesed sildid või mälestusesemed, millele on kirjas valitud külalise roll pulmapeol, aitavad lisada sellele erilisele sündmusele veelgi rohkem soojust, isikupära ja meeleolu.

Kui tegemist on ametimärkidega, siis enamasti seostatakse neid traditsiooniliste tiitlitega nagu „pulmaisa“, „kibekarjuja“, „kroonik“, „lilleneiu“ või „tantsulõvi“. Kuid miks mitte lisada ka midagi lõbusat ja ainulaadset, mis kajastaks igat külalist või pereliiget? Ametimärkide jaoks pole kindlaid reegleid, pigem on need vahendid, et anda isikupärane puudutus ja teha iga külaline eriliseks.
